The work was very interesting and exciting. Mallie was always tired, dirty and hungry, but she could not stop digging and searching the sites. She had long shifts, and in the tombs that she was clearing, it was sometimes impossible to see if it was day or night. She met a few locals, but most of the time, she was either alone in an excavation location or with a group inside the tombs.
It was
really satisfying to get all the areas cleared and get to discover those
artifacts. Mallie was sure she would get a good cut from the loot, ahem,
findings.
Aside from
the work, the place was gorgeous! The views were incredible and of course, like
nothing Mallie had seen. Even the roads to come in and out of the excavation
sites took you through beautiful scenery and woods. It was wonderful!
When she
had time off, which was not often, she enjoyed swimming in cool fresh water
ponds.
She also did
some fishing. The fish were very colorful and huge!!!
And of course, she tried to go around the archeological sites that were now established monuments in town. The site that truly left her speechless was the Terracota Army.
She would make sure to bring Mark here one day!
Mallie
returned to Adventureland at the end of her six-month-long tour in Shang Simla.
She sent her stuff home by a moving service and took her newly acquired bike to
arrive in true Shang Simla style. She really was in great shape from all the
work, walking, lifting stuff, and cycling from a site to another.
Her plans were big! She was going to tear down the old little house and have a new one built!!! She might go to college when Mark was a bit older, or perhaps she wouldn’t, but now she had the money to do that and even set up a college fund for her son. She had great hopes that her time away from home would give her little family a much comfortable position in life. But first, she was dying to see Mark. Video chats were not good enough to let her see her growing baby boy.
